Glen Rice
MVP Glen Rice had plenty to smile about.

Historic period

On a weekend when the NBA celebrated its history, Glen Rice and Michael Jordan decided to rewrite it. Rice put together the hottest streak in the 47-year history of the NBA All-Star Game and was named MVP after leading the East to a 132-120 victory. It took Rice about 24 minutes to heat up, but once he did, he was unstoppable -- setting records with 20 third-quarter points and 24 in the second half. Never one to be outdone, Jordan recorded the first triple-double in All-Star history with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
